Christmas with a beagle entertains Cincinnati

An upcoming show will pay homage to one of the most popular programs ever aired.

Jazz pianist David Benoit and singer Courtney Fortune will join forces to celebrate the beloved animated Christmas special, “A Charlie Brown Christmas.” The program debuted on CBS in December 1965 and has been an annual tradition ever since. It won an Emmy in 1966 for “Best Children’s Program” and a Peabody Award. Now the “David Benoit Christmas Tribute to Charlie Brown with Special Guest Courtney Fortune” will celebrate the program.

The show will feature the music of jazz legend Vince Guaraldi, who wrote the music for the original, as well as works by Benoit, who wrote for later “Peanuts” specials. David Benoit is a renowned contemporary jazz pianist whose career began in 1977. He has been nominated for numerous Grammys, and in 2000 and in 2001 he was named “Keyboardist of the Year.”

In addition to his work on the “Peanuts” franchise, he scored films including “The Christmas Tree,” which Film Score Magazine voted Best Score of 1996.

In addition to music from “A Charlie Brown Christmas,” the concert includes selections from the other “Peanuts” specials and selections from throughout his career. A children’s choir will add a special touch to the evening.

The concert is scheduled for Wednesday, December 2 at 7:30 pm at the Ludlow Garage, and the doors will open at 6:00 pm. Performances like this can be enhanced if organizers use poster printing to create materials to promote them.
