What's Happening in Cincinnati, OH…

Tour for classic CD coming to Cincinnati

In the 1990s, a CD of songs about winter was released, and became a classic; it is now the reason for a tour.

“On a Winter’s Night” was the brainchild of Christine Lavin, who in 1994 gathered some of the best and brightest songwriters to showcase folk songs that capture the frosty delight of winter. The songs included “Secret Gardens” by Judy Collins, “Winter Wind” by Patty Larkin, and “On a Winter’s Night” by Willie Nininger. The CD was such a huge success it spawned several tours.

Now, artists associated with the project are on the road again. The musicians coming to Cincinnati are Patty Larkin, Lucy Kaplansky, John Gorka, and Cliff Eberhardt. All have had great careers since that long-ago collaboration.

Patty Larkin has redefined pop music, giving it a folk-urban flair with her vocals, lyrics, and skill on the acoustic guitar.

Lucy Kaplansky has won praise for her vocal talent. Blending pop, folk, and country genres, she makes every song sound fresh, whether she’s singing her own material or covering songs by artists from June Carter Cash to The Beatles.

Rolling Stone has called John Gorka:

“the leading singer-songwriter of the New Folk movement..”

reflecting his commitment to folk music.

And Cliff Eberhardt is both an exciting guitarist and an exquisite lyricist.

This extraordinary concert is set for January 25 at Memorial Hall, at 8.00 pm. When they plan events like this, organizers may use brochure printing to create programs for the audience.
