The Banks soon to reach second stage of construction

Work on The Banks, a major construction project near the Great American Ball Park, is ongoing, with construction on Phase II now underway.

The second phase kicked off in late April as is located on a one-block area bounded by Race Street to Rose Parks, and between Second Street and Freedom Way.

The development is a mixed-used project, which will provide about 20,000 square feet of retail space, as well as approximately 291 apartments in a nine-story tower. Construction activities starting soon include fencing and some demolition. A new hotel is planned near the ball park as part of the second phase, and more work is expected to occur throughout the area, with The Banks as the driver for other improvements.

Phase I of the project began in 2008 and was 100% occupied, with 91% of its retail spaces leased, by August of 2013. The Tin Roof, a restaurant, has been operating in The Banks since last September. William Hodges, the general manager, said last August that he appreciated the ongoing construction, since having The Banks and its amenities in place means that people who come to Cincinnati Reds games (they play at the stadium) now have somewhere to go, rather than leaving immediately after the game.

The Banks is slated for completion in 2020, and the developer could work with brochure printers to create a mailer for realtors listing the project’s amenities.
