What's Happening in Cincinnati, OH…

Scott Altman named as executive director of Cincinnati Ballet

After a search that lasted two years and spanned the globe, the Cincinnati Ballet announced last week that it had chosen a new executive director.

Scott Altman, who is currently the executive director of Salt Lake City's Ballet West, will begin his duties in Cincinnati on October 1, according to Cincinnati.com.

Cincinnati Ballet's artistic director, Victoria Morgan, said there was a huge number of candidates interested in the post, and they came from all over the world. However, Morgan said, Altman was the only one who combined all the qualities they were looking for. She added that Altman was such a good candidate, she feared he may be out of their reach.

The Ballet West company has 37 dancers, 11 more than the Cincinnati Ballet. In addition, the Salt Lake City company performs almost twice as many times in a year as Cincinnati, at 61 performances compared to Cincinnati's 36. Altman is not concerned by any of this, believing Cincinnati Ballet is at a point where it could grow and change in many directions, and he is happy to join an organization that is already operating at a high level.

Altman, a former opera singer, served as Arizona Opera's general director for four years before joining Ballet West.

Organizations like these can benefit by working with brochure printers, which can create colorful booklets, suitable for mailing, that explain personnel changes and other important information.
