What's Happening in Cincinnati, OH…

New interactive experience comes to Cincinnati

J. Miles Wolf, an award-winning local photographer, has teamed up with Downtown Cincinnati, Inc., on the ‘Obscure Cincinnati’ project. The work is a FotoFocus outdoor exhibit featuring over 40 photos of obscure locations in and around the city.

The exhibit is interactive, and works by allowing viewers to see a close-up of a photo, then leading them down a trail to the pictured destination. Once they get to the end of the trail, participants will be able to learn the history of the monument or statue in the photo.

Photos will be displayed in the doors and windows of nine different buildings, including the Aronoff Center, 21C Museum Hotel, the Contemporary Arts Center, and six more buildings around Sixth and Main.

In a news release, Wolf said the project was an entertaining and engaging way to introduce places in Cincinnati to residents who pass them every day, but probably won't recognize immediately. The project gives them a chance to learn about both familiar and unfamiliar parts of the city.

FotoFocus is a nonprofit organization that was founded in Cincinnati in 2010. The organization's mission is to celebrate photography, which it considers the most important medium of today, by devising programs that include lectures and projects by visiting artists.

Organizers of events like these can enhance the experience by working with flyer printing companies, which can create handouts that enable participants to find specific objects.
