Department store Macy's recently revealed that it plans to offer same-day delivery in Cincinnati, beginning sometime this fall.
The delivery applies only to those items purchased online. In order to receive the service, Macy's shoppers need to select ‘same-day delivery’ when they place their orders. Macy's will provide an estimated time of arrival, a photo of the driver, and GPS order tracking to their patrons, which will allow shoppers to keep track of their order from the time they place it until it arrives at their door.
In order to ensure the same-day delivery, orders need to be placed by 1:00 pm Mondays through Saturdays, and by 11:00 am Sundays. Macy's prices for the service depend on whether or not the purchase meets their minimum; anything over $99 is delivered for free, with an $8 extra charge for the same-day service. If the order is less than $99, customers will incur standard shipping charges as well as the $8 same-day fee. Deliv, which specializes in this kind of deliveries, will continue to be Macy's delivery service.
Macy's first tried out the service in 2014 in 15 markets including Chicago, New York City, Seattle, Las Vegas, and San Francisco. Now Macy's will add another 15 cities to its current roster, including San Diego, Minneapolis-St. Paul, and Orlando in addition to Cincinnati.
In order to publicize such measures, companies like this could work with a postcard printing company to create a card announcing the service.
