A specialist in smooth jazz, Kim Waters hails from Maryland, where he formed his first band with his brothers when he was just starting out. Early in his career he released his debut album, “Sweet and Saxy,” in 1989, and followed it up in 1991 with “Sax Appeal.” His third album, “Peaceful Journey” dropped in 1993, and “It’s Time for Love” came out the following year.
He signed with Shanachie Records and released “Love’s Melody,” his first album with them, in 1998, and went on to drop several more under that label. He then moved to Red River Entertainment and released “Silver Soul” with them. The album included appearances by Eric Robertson and Zendaya. He returned to Shanachie for “Rhythm and Romance,” and had the satisfaction of seeing it soar to Number 12 on the Jazz Album charts. Waters manages to tour, release an album approximately every 18 months, and maintain a home life.
A review says:
“Words are inadequate to describe the smooth, sultry sound of Kim Waters. Contemporary/smooth jazz at its finest. I was up close and could feel the vibes from this handsome, hunk of a man....”
