Ending the summer in style in Cincinnati
Everyone hates to say goodbye to summer, but Cincinnati will send it out in style.
The city's annual Riverfest is one of the biggest celebrations in the region, and is full of family-friendly activities, live music, and the famous Rubber Duck Regatta. The regatta starts when hundreds of thousands of rubber ducks are dumped into the Ohio from the Purple People Bridge. From there, the yellow duckies float downriver to a designated spot, where the winning duck is picked from the water.
The regatta is a fundraiser, and the winner is usually given a car; there is also a substantial cash prize awarded. However, with hundreds of thousands of ducks purchased, the organizers are pleased to reward the winner of the contest, while the rest of the monies raised goes to help support food-insecure children and families in the area.
The end of the daylong celebration brings the Western & Southern/WEBN Fireworks show, at which time fireworks will be set off from barges located in the river, and synced with music by WEBN, a local radio station.

The events begin at 12:00 noon and run until well after dark. Banner printing can be used to create festive decorations for events like this, as banners stand up to outdoor use.
