A new bar that will serve approximately 80 different varieties of bourbon whiskey is set to open in downtown Cincinnati.
The Horse & Barrel Bourbon House will open at 625 Walnut Street, on the ground floor of the space that once housed the Walnut Street Grill and Jeff Ruby's Bootsy's. The bar is across the street from the Aranoff Center.
The Horse & Barrel is owned by The Tavern Restaurant Group, which is the company that also owns Nicholson's Pub, based next door to the new establishment. Nicholson's serves a wide variety of Scotch whiskeys, just as the Horse & Barrel will serve bourbon. The new bar will serve the drinks in one-ounce or two-ounce pours, and will also offer bourbon cocktails and various flights.
The bar features exposed brick walls and wood floors, and can seat as many as 40 people. It offers a small menu of dishes to be shared, and small plates with a Kentucky and bourbon theme, such as bourbon-pecan pie.
The bar opens its doors today, January 2. Its regular hours of operation are 4:00 pm to 11:00 pm Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, and 4:00 pm to 1:00 am Friday and Saturday.
Bar management could work with a flyer printing company to create handouts for distribution on opening day, and for a few days following the event.
