Cincinnati brews up a yearly special
For the ninth year in a row, Cincinnati’s beer fans have an event just for them, as ‘Beerfest’ comes back round again.
There will be more than 350 brews available for tasting, brewed by dozens of organizations throughout the nation, as well as from Belgium and Germany.
The list of brews highlights the huge variety now available, thanks to the growth in the craft beer industry. Choices include beers like an Imperial Stout, made in Cincinnati by the 50 West Brewery, and sold under the ‘Jalopy Nose Imperial Pepper Stout’ brand name. Another is a Spring Saison from the 21st Amendment Brewery in San Francisco, sold under the brand name ‘Sneak Attack’.
The Beerfest is a fundraiser for the Big Joe Duskin Music Foundation, which helps music programs in underfunded schools in the area, at both the junior high and elementary levels.
This year’s Beerfest is scheduled for downtown Cincinnati, at the Duke Energy Convention Center on Elm Street. Dates of the festival are this Friday and Saturday (February 12 and 13), from 6:30 pm (for those who choose early admission) or 7:30 pm (regular start time) to the last pour at 10:40 pm, with the event closing at 11:00 pm.
Beerfest organizers could work with banner printing companies to create festive banners to hang throughout the hall, adding to the fun of the event.
