Amy Grant has won six Grammys and was a Kennedy Center Honoree and has just released the first album of new music she has created in more than a decade. The work, her 20th studio album, is titled “The Me That Remains,” and offers her take on themes including healing. Part of the impetus for the album is her open-heart surgery, which took place in 2020, and a bicycle accident in 2022.
Grant released her first album 1977. The self-titled release was labeled as Contemporary Christian Music (CCM) and Gospel, but she wanted to widen her appeal and become the first CCM artist who also succeeded in the pop arena. Her 1985 album “Unguarded” was her first effort in this direction, and her best-selling “Heart in Motion” (1991), completed the transformation. Fans were surprised that the album was almost entirely pop, but it was certified five-times Platinum by the RIAA. A review of one of her shows says:
“I have rarely seen an artist so deftly and authentically connect with their audience. Grant comes across as extremely accessible, and she’s also, surprisingly, downright funny.”
Now aged 65, Amy Grant will be at the Ludlow Garage on Friday, June 26. Organizers using poster printing can help support performances like this.
