Family fun, fitness, a variety of runs, and a party are all coming up on a special weekend in Cincinnati.
The Flying Pig Marathon Weekend is one of the biggest events in Cincinnati and has activities taking place over three days. These include a fitness expo, races covering a variety of distances, and a family fun festival.
The fun kicks off on Friday with a Fitness Expo, where national and local vendors will be on hand with information about staying healthy. The Expo also serves as the location for race participants to pick up their packets. The first day also brings the first race of the weekend, the 50 West Mile. This race is the second of three races that comprise the TQL Beer Series that supports the Over-the-Rhine Brewing District.
The featured race of the second day is the 10K, which starts at Mehring Way, loops around and leads through a transit tunnel, past the Great American Ballpark, makes another loop, and ends at Smale Park.
The third day brings the titular races, the Flying Pig Marathon, and the Half-Marathon. The marathon begins at Rosa Parks Street and ends at Mehring Way, covering 26.2 miles. Runners start at 6.30 am. The half-marathon starts at the same time and place, and the course is flat and fast.
The weekend’s festivities cover Friday, May 1, Saturday, May 2, and Sunday, May 3. Events like this may benefit greatly when organizers work with banner printing to create course markers for the races.
