Tribute to classic rock scheduled in Cincinnati

Good tribute bands can make audiences feel like they’re watching the original group, and now a highly praised tribute act is coming to Cincinnati.

Tusk calls itself the “Classic Fleetwood Mac Tribute,” and has been performing since 2008, touring throughout the country. The band members are all professional musicians who mastered their craft thanks to decades of studying music, performing live, and taking the kinds of risks that are truly creative.

Each member of Tusk takes on the persona of one of the original core members of Fleetwood Mac: Mick Fleetwood, John and Christine McVie, Stevie Nicks, and Lindsey Buckingham. The tribute band performs both solos and songs performed by the whole group with complete fidelity to the original.

In describing their career, Tusk discusses why their group has been successful, pointing out that all tribute bands have the same attributes: they are talented musicians, they are devoted to the groups they portray, they are similar to the original group in vocal ability, and they can duplicate their costumes and often resemble them physically. The difference, Tusk argues, is that they have a long history together. Two band members met playing in Little League, two others met in middle school, and all have played together in various other bands. They know each other well enough to consider themselves family.

Tusk will be at Memorial Hall on August 14. Shows like this benefit when organizers promote them by using poster printing to create suitable advertising.
