Cincinnati to host southern rock act

A southern rock band that has been performing for three decades is coming to Cincinnati.

It might be said that the Atlanta Rhythm Section (ARS) exists thanks to the construction of a recording studio in Doraville, Georgia. In 1970, Rodney Mills, an Atlanta engineer, built the studio with the support of Bill Lowery, a music publisher, along with Buddy Buie and J.R. Cobb. They called the facility Studio One, where artists like Joe South, and Lynyrd Skynyrd recorded.

When the new studio opened, it needed a session band, and Dean Daughtry, Rodney Justo, and Robert Nix, formerly of the Candymen, and James B. Cobb from the Classics IV, were chosen. These musicians, with the addition of Paul Goddard, became the Atlanta Rhythm Section. Justo is still with the group, the only original member left.

The group broke through in 1978 with the album “Champagne Jam,” which was certified Gold in Canada and Platinum in the United States. All eight tracks on the album were original, and critics praised the band’s ability to maintain the standards they had established in earlier albums. The new songs blended shifting tempos and beautiful melodies. The group continues to tour, and a review says:

“Wow! Great concert! ARS put on a terrific show, with some of their most popular songs.”

The Atlanta Rhythm Section will be at the Ludlow Garage on October 24. To support this type of event, organizers can use poster printing to create advertising.
