A wine pairing dinner, in which an expert chooses a wine to complement the food, is coming up in Centerville.
Cooper’s Hawk Winery & Restaurant will be the venue for the Havana Nights Wine Club Pairing Dinner. The evening will explore all things Cuban, from the mambo to traditional street food, which will be paired with wines from Cooper’s Hawk, and take guests back to Old Havana.
The evening begins with a Mojito. Dinner comprises Pan de Maiz (corn bread Latin style) served with guava butter, followed by Sopa de Frijol Negro y Papa Rellana, a duo of black bean soup garnished with cilantro crèma, and potato rellena - potatoes fried and then stuffed, in this instance with queso blanco and a short rib picadillo. The wine is a red blend from South Africa.
The next course is Mahi Mahi Estofado, which is Mahi Mahi, a flavorful fish, stewed with capers, onions, sweet peppers, and tomatoes, served on steamed rice. The wine is a Lux Pinot Noir.
Dessert is a classic flan topped with caramel and pineapple, and paired with Lux Icewine.
The dinner is limited to those 21 and over, and is scheduled for March 13 at 7:00 pm at Cooper’s Hawk on Cornerstone North Boulevards. Guests will share a table with people they may not know, which is part of the fun and may lead to an opportunity to exchange Business Cards with new contacts.
