Special event for kids in Centerville
The Centerville-Washington Park District organizes numerous events for residents, and has a special day planned for youngsters soon.
Children who love racing and competition, finishing challenges, and being creative should consider joining the “CWPD 500,” a race around a local park. Cardboard race cars will be made by the drivers, with help from kits that will be provided beforehand. The kits will provide decorations for the cars, and even more decorations will be provided on race day. Drivers will follow the designated route and complete pit stops along the way before they get to the finish line. Events like this may benefit if organizers use banner printing to create markers to indicate the course.
Parents or guardians are asked to register each child for whom they want a kit. Kits can be picked up at Bin A, at 221 North Main Street. Siblings are welcome to attend the race, but the event is focused on the younger children. Organizers are asking participants to let them know if they cannot attend.
The ”CWPD 500” is scheduled for Saturday, November 15, from 11.00 am until 12.30 pm, at the Kennard Nature Nook in Grant Park, and the deadline to register is November 5. The entry fee is charged per car, and is $15 for residents and $20 for non-residents. The race is open to competitors ages five through nine, who must have an adult companion with them to be able to attend.
