A local restaurant in Centervile has a special event planned in the middle of March.
The Centerville Cooper’s Hawk Winery & Restaurant frequently holds wine-pairing dinners and has now planned a meal that will allow participants to enjoy the tastes of Chile.
The Passport to Chile event highlights both the cuisine of the country and its wines. Chile has been making wine since the 1500s, and is known for its delicious vintages. Several Chilean wines will accompany the meal, and Cooper’s Hawk will be pouring its own Carménère Cabernet as well.
The mouth-watering menu starts with a Passionfruit Caipiroska, which is a cocktail of sugar, lime, and vodka that is popular in several South American countries. That will be followed with a Tortilla de Rescoldo, a grilled flatbread with chimichurri and garlic butter.
Next is a shrimp and tuna Mariscal Frio, which is a Chilean ceviche with red onion, cucumber, avocado, and a passionfruit salsa. The wine is Abrilliante.
The next course is Costiilla de Res y Chileno Pebre, which is a braised short rib served with Pebro sauce, squash, spinach, sweet corn, and Longaniza sausage. The wine for this course is Carménère Cabernet Sauvignon, the restaurant’s wine of the month.
Dessert, for those who still have room, is a hazelnut-almond chocolate cake served with a caramel ganache, dulce de leche cream, and strawberries. The dessert wine is Vin Chocolat Almond.
The feast is set for March 16. Events like this often benefit when organizers use flyer printing to create a menu that explains the dishes.
