A peaceful, colorful event is set to bring the Centerville community together.
Countryside Park will be the location of the upcoming Lantern Fest, an evening that promises to be magical and full of fun. This type of celebration is most common in Asia but can be found throughout the world. Traditional lantern festivals include making the lanterns and hanging them so people can dine and celebrate under the light, but the Centerville event will place the lanterns on the lake, lighting up the surface.
In addition to the lanterns, the evening includes food trucks who will be on hand with a wide variety of beverages and delicious treats that will allow attendees to enjoy a snack while they watch the lights.
The event is family friendly and there are activities planned for people of all ages, including interactive games, music, and park hunts. Part of the fun is making lanterns to place on the water. Typically, these kits include tissue paper that is strong when wet, sticks, glue, masking type, florist wire, and an electric tealight.
Centerville’s Lantern Festival is set for September 11 beginning at 7.00 pm, with the actual “launch” of the lanterns at sunset. The park is located at 895 Miamisburg Centerville Road. The fee is $10 for each lantern pack, and anyone thinking of attending should get tickets soon, as the festival sells out. When they plan colorful events like this, organizers can boost attendance by using poster printing to create advertisements for them.
