A Christmas dance will be a fantastic way to celebrate the season in Centerville.
The Hauer Swing Band Christmas Party Dance will give fans of big bands and swing music a chance to hear some of their favorites as they get ready to celebrate Christmas.
Chris Haines and the Hauer Swing Band have been together for decades, playing at venues from backyard parties to major theater and stages. Two of their favorite artists are Michael Bublé and Frank Sinatra; they also play various genres including jitterbug, the waltz, rhumba, samba, and just plain swing.
Swing music is considered a type of jazz that began in the 1920s and 1930s in the United States, becoming popular nationwide from about 1935 to the 1940s. The music was strongly associated with World War II, with these years earning the title of the “Swing Era.”
Familiar names of bands from the Swing Era include Benny Goodman, Artie Shaw, Glenn Miller, Duke Ellington, Tommy and Jimmy Dorsey, Harry James, Woody Herman, Django Reinhardt, Cab Calloway, Count Basie, and Lionel Hampton.
The Hauer Swing Band has appeared at the Moraine Country Club, Riverscape, the Fraze Pavilion, and many others, and will hold their Swing Band Dance on Saturday, December 23, from 7.00pm until 10.00pm, at the Hidden Gem Music Club in Centerville. Organizers of this type of event can use poster printing to create advertising for the evening.
