A traditional event is coming to Centerville that promises to be exciting and fun.
Since 1980, the Centerville Band Boosters have hosted Soaring Sounds, a drum corps show. The Boosters are teaming up with Drum Corps International to produce the presentation, which is one of the country’s oldest drum corps performances. Drum and bugle corps are noted for their precision choreography, as well as their musicianship.
A true community event, the show would not be possible without the many Centerville residents who are involved. These include the official advertisers and sponsors; the Centerville Band volunteers, both students and parents; the Centerville High School staff and the Centerville City Schools generally; the staff of Drum Corps International; and the local schools who have volunteered to house the drum corps members.
The corps taking part this year are the Mandarins, Spartans, Music City, Cavaliers, Blue Stars, and Madison Scouts. The Mandarins are from Sacramento, California, and were founded in 1963, while the Spartans are from Nashua, New Hampshire. The Music City group is based in Nashville, Tennessee; the Cavaliers are from Rosemont, Illinois; the Blue Stars are from La Crosse, Wisconsin; and the Madison Scouts hail from Madison, Wisconsin. The Scouts were one of the founding organizations of the Drum Corps International.
Soaring Sounds will take place August 3. Fans will no doubt want to know about the participants, and organizers can use brochure printing to create informative programs for them.
