What's Happening in Wappingers Falls, NY…

Print Companies in Wappingers Falls

Print companies in Wappingers Falls, New York, have an opportunity to provide needed services to members of this community. The village is named for a waterfall in Wappinger Creek, which runs through the town.

The name “Wappinger” itself refers to a Native American confederacy, primarily of Algonquian tribes, which in the 17th Century held territory on the east bank of the Hudson River. Most of them lived in what is present day Dutchess County, though their lands extended partly into Connecticut.

The first Europeans in the area were the Dutch and, in 1741, Adolphus and Nicholas Brewer bought 750 acres of land near the falls, and built the first stone house to be located in the village. The falls were important for the development of industry, powering a cotton mill located on the banks of the creek where it flows from Wappinger Lake into the Hudson River. The mill was built in 1819 and grew to become one of the biggest printworks in the nation. The original mill and other buildings burned in 1856, but were immediately rebuilt and remained operational until 1931. Across the creek from the mill is housing built for its workers, and what was essentially two independent halves of the community were joined by a stone bridge built in 1884.

This is only a part of the rich history of the town, a part of which is now designated as the ‘Wappingers Falls Historic District’. The Wappinger Historical Society works to preserve the history of this and other adjacent communities, and could create brochures, complete with illustrations, that detail the past of the area.

Wappingers Falls is a small community but it supports a number of “mom and pop” businesses including restaurants, cafes, coffee shops, and boutiques. There are also several malls nearby that house national retailers. Businesses of all sizes need the services and products of printing companies if they are to compete effectively in the retail sector. For instance, when a boutique has a sale, its managers might like to work with a flyer printing company to create a handout giving the details of the event. Passing out a flyer near the store near the date of the sale can help create excitement and increase traffic into the location.

Restaurants that have a change in the menu, or are running specials, can take advantage of the curiosity created by these events by working with a banner printing company to create pieces that describe the specials. Banners are usually printed on vinyl, so they're tough, reusable, and suitable for display outside.

Even the smallest business also needs to present itself professionally, so small enterprises should take advantage of the opportunity to work with stationery printers to create crisp, easy-to-read letterheads. They can also consider working with business card printing companies to make sure employees' cards are up-to-date and attractive.

Print companies provide a wide range of products and services to businesses and individuals alike, helping them achieve success by making sure they have the top-quality materials they need.
