Wappingers Falls celebrates holidays with run
Pete Sanfilippo 43rd Annual Holiday 5-mile Run, which is now USATF certified, will take participants through the scenic village of Wappingers Falls in early December.
The top three overall female and male finishers will receive $200 for first place, $100 for second place, and $50 for third place. A $50 cash prize will also go to the first-place finisher in the Masters category for runners ages 50 and older.
Registration for the 5-mile will be $22.20 and will increase to $25 after December 6. The Kids’ One Mile for children 12 and under will be free for preregistration and $10 on race day.
Holiday winter hats will go to the first 200 5-mile registrants. Awards will also go to the top three female and male finishers in eight age categories for the 5-mile, and top three finishers in the three age categories in the Kids’ One Mile.
The kids' race will begin at 9:30 am, followed by the 5-mile at 10:00 am. Amid holiday music and refreshments, Santa will be in the hall to welcome kids and have pictures taken after their race.
Pictures taken this early in the season still have time to get duplicates at local print shops.
The Pete Sanfilippo 5-mile race will take place Saturday, December 7. Both races will begin and end in downtown Wappingers Falls at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 2660 E. Main Street.
