Trio of outdoor spring events in Wappingers Falls

Over the next few weeks, Town of Wappinger Falls Recreation has a veteran’s run/walk, a clean-up, and a community celebration.

First up is the 6th annual Joseph Ennesser 5k Walk/Run, which will be a fundraiser for the town to continue to maintain local parks, monuments, and Hometown Heroes Banners honoring local figures.

The 5k will be for those 18 years old and older and will cost $25 to register. It will take place this Saturday, April 11, from 8:00 am to 11:00 am at the Dutchess Rail Trail-Lake Walton Trailhead.

On Saturday, April 25 there will be an Earth Day Clean Up from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. Volunteers will be cleaning up roadsides and parks and getting involved in some landscaping, weeding, and planting. Everyone is to meet at the Town Hall at 10:00 am to pick up supplies.

Finally, and moving on to May, Community Day will be a family-friendly event with the America 250 theme marking the founding of our nation. Festivities will include live entertainment, activities for the kids, and food vendors, and local non-profit organizations, businesses, and government agencies will be passing out information.

A parade will line up at 67 Myers Corners Road in the Laerdal Parking Lot beginning at 11:00 am, and will set off at noon. Many who take part in events like this get their banner printing arranged beforehand.

Community Day will take place on Saturday, May 16 from 1:00 pm to 9:00 pm at Schlathaus Park.
