Living history event explores lives of Wappingers Falls residents

Wappingers Falls residents will have a chance to take a look back in time this autumn, as a local historian is preparing to host a cemetery tour.

The Stones & Bones Living History Tour at Wappingers Rural Cemetery is drawing nearer on the calendar, and residents who want to explore the lives of Wappingers Falls’ more interesting characters are invited to join. The event, which is being organized with assistance from the Wappingers Historical Society, will provide a guided exploration of the cemetery led by Dani Masterson.

Masterson will use her in-depth knowledge of the town’s past residents to share their stories and explain how their lives played a role in Wappingers Falls’ historic past. Costumed apparitions will make appearances during the tour to represent these individuals. Some of these individuals include Andrew Jackson (a bricklayer and mason), Zebulon Phillips (a veteran of the War of 1812), and Georgina Gurney (a social studies teacher).

Brochure printing is an invaluable resource for events like this, providing printed documents that supplement the information provided by the experience’s guide. Several timeslots will be available, and a rain date of Sunday, October 4 will be used in the event of inclement weather.

Wappingers Falls Rural Cemetery will host the living history experience on Saturday, October 3 starting at 2:00 pm. Tickets are free online, though donations are appreciated.
