Wappingers Falls supports local charities

Two fall fundraisers are scheduled for Wappingers Falls for early October.

First up, Grace Smith House, Inc. will be displaying more than 400 T-Shirts designed by women who have experienced violence. The shirts depict their experiences and are color coded to indicate the form of abuse the designer experienced.

Tickets will be by donations and all proceeds will go to Grace Smith House, Inc. This organization provides education, counseling, advocacy, and shelter to families and individuals who have experienced domestic violence.

GSH - The Clothesline Project will have the shirts on display from Saturday, October 4 to Friday, October 10 at the River Valley Arts Center Wappingers Falls, 9 S. Mesier Avenue.

Also during that week, the Friends of Blodgett Memorial Library will be holding a Trivia Night Fundraiser. There will be five rounds covering general knowledge, and beverages will be sold. Teams will be limited to four. All proceeds will go to the library's special projects and building renovations.

The Trivia Night Fundraiser will be Thursday, October 9 from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm at Norma's Wappingers, 2648 East Main Street. Tickets will be $23.18 and will be available up until the day of the event.

Supporters of organizations that hold fundraisers like these occasionally go to local Print shops and get some flyer printing done a few days before the event.
