There are two events taking place in the Smithtown area that will aid charities.
The first is the 2nd annual Polar Plunge to take place in nearby Calverton. Raising funds for special needs athletes in New York, participants will obtain pledges from friends, family, and work associates. Those who raise a minimum of $150 will receive a free sweatshirt and all participants are asked to aim at raising $400, which is enough to help one athlete. Other participation awards will also be handed out.
Later on in the month, the 5th annual Taste of Smithtown Raffle/Auction is taking place and will raise funds for the Dynamics Baton Twirling Travel Team. Over 20 area restaurants will be providing samples of their dishes. There will also be more than 100 baskets to be raffled off. In addition, a 50/50 draw will take place and all guests will receive a free goody bag.
It is likely that goody Bags will be filled with samples from Smithtown restaurants, and will include items such as promotional Pens.
