Often described as the area’s most refreshing spring trail run, the Long Island Lemonade Trail 5K Run/Walk will take place in Smithtown next month.
The run will be hosted by Elitefeats, an event-planning organization specializing in running and race events. Participants will run through the trail of Blydenburgh County Park, a 627-acre park nestled at the headwaters of the Nissequogue River. The trails of the park offer picturesque views of Stump Pond, with the 5k running along part of the loop trail that encircles the pond.
Awards will be given in top male and female runner categories, as well as top male and female in each designated age category. The sponsor of the event, All Round Foods, will provide snacks for runners and their families.
Funds raised from registration fees will go towards the Never Stop Running Foundation, a non-profit organization that supports local athletic and charitable events as well as youth and special needs events.
Charity runs like this will often be supported by local businesses acting as event sponsors. In return for charitable donations, sponsoring businesses may get their Logo Design displayed on event merchandise and advertising materials.
The Smithtown trail run will be held on Sunday, May 28 from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm. Blydenburgh County Park can be found on Veteran's Memorial Highway. Tickets are $30 per race participant.
