Smithtown to trot for charity this Thanksgiving

The 10th Annual Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot will take place in Smithtown next month, which is a 5K run/walk that raises money for local charities.

As the name implies, the Turkey Trot will be turkey-themed and held on Thanksgiving Day, giving participants a chance to ‘trot’ their way to victory before the traditional Thanksgiving feasts of the season. Race participants are welcome to walk or run the classic 3.1-mile course throughout the town, and awards will be given to the top finishers as well as top finishers in each age category. Participants will receive a race T-shirt as well as pre- and post-race snacks.

Proceeds raised from race fees will go towards the Smithtown Children’s Foundation and Angela’s House. Organizers encourage local businesses to become sponsors of the run, with several sponsorship packages being offered from bronze all the way to diamond level. Each sponsorship tier will offer something different in terms of advertising and business exposure, such as the inclusion of the business name and company Logo Design on the race T-Shirts or advertising privileges on the organizer’s website.

The Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot will be held on Thursday, November 28. The Kids 1-Mile Run will begin at 8:30 am, and the 5K will begin at 9:00 am. The run will begin and end at the Smithtown Elementary School on Lawrence Avenue. Registration fees are $25.
