Smithtown runs event to help childrens charity

The Toy Drive Prediction Run will take place in Smithtown next month to benefit the John Theissen Children’s Foundation.

The Toy Drive Prediction Run is charity run event in which participants will bring a new, unwrapped toy instead of paying a race entry fee. These toys will then be donated to the John Theissen Children’s Foundation, a non-profit organization that supports underprivileged and sick children. It was created by John Theissen in 1992 after he spent time in the hospital for a brain tumor and was inspired by the friendship offered by a sick little girl.

The three-mile run is designed as a prediction run, which means that participants will have to offer a prediction of their finish time when they register. No watches or timing devices will be allowed during the race, and awards will be given out to those who most accurately predict their finish time. Sayville Smithtown Running Company will gift a pair of sneakers to the top predictor, along with other Promotional Products. Runners and their guests will also enjoy bagels and drinks after the run.

The Smithtown Toy Drive Prediction Run is scheduled for December 4 from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm. The race starting location is 91 E Main Street, Smithtown. The racing loop begins west on Main Street and will end at Landing Avenue.
