The Rotary Club of Smithtown is hosting a festive athletic event.
The 22nd Annual St. Patrick’s Day ‘Go for the Green’ 5K run and one-mile fun run will raise money for charitable acts. Awards will be given to the top three women and men overall, and also the top three in each age category. There will also be a raffle.
Registration costs $25 for the 5K but goes up to $30 on race day. The fun run is $15. The first 500 individuals who sign up will be given a T-shirt. Prior to the race, bibs can be picked up on March 20 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the Smithtown Running Company on 91 East Main Street.
All of the event’s proceeds will go to fund programs that help disadvantaged individuals. Some of these charities include a Thanksgiving Dinner basket program and a Christmas Gift giving party. Community service, scholarships, and nonprofit support are a few other programs the race will benefit.
To help promote the event, it is likely a flyer printing service was contacted to create handouts to distribute to Smithtown residents.
It all takes place on March 21 at Smithtown Elementary School, located on 51 Lawrence Avenue. Race day registration stops at 8:30 am. The fun run begins at 9:00 am while the 5K starts at 9:15 am.
