Smithtown Rotary Club to hold St. Patricks run

In celebration of St. Patrick’s Day in March, the Smithtown Rotary Club will hold the “Go for the Green” 5K Run/Walk and Family Fun Run.

The Rotary Club of Smithtown is a 501(c)(3) organization made up of members from all walks of life and belonging to various businesses and occupations. These members work together on community service projects and other volunteer activities on a local, national, and international level. The Go for the Green 5K Run/Walk is one example of these volunteer and charitable activities, which together typically raise over $40,000 a year for the community.

The event will consist of a timed 5K run/walk and an untimed family fun run. Both will follow a USATF certified course that will be relatively flat and will run through residential neighborhoods of Smithtown. The route will be police-controlled and will include mile splits and water stops. After the race, there will be refreshments, and participants can bring their race number into Napper Tandy’s Irish Pub for one free draft beer. The first 400 registrants will receive a T-shirt with the event Logo Design on it.

The Go for the Green 5K Run/Walk is scheduled for March 12, beginning at 9:30 am. The start/finish line will be a Smithtown Elementary School, located on 51 Lawrence Avenue. To find out about prices and how to register, those interested can visit the event website.
