Smithtown joins the Run for your Life 5K

This year marks the 8th Annual Commack Ambulance Run for your Life 5K run and walk. This run helps to support the Commack Volunteer Ambulance Corps, which has served the areas of Commack, Smithtown, Hauppauge, East Northport, and Elwood for over fifty years. The volunteer corps has also provided mutual support and aid to other surrounding ambulances and fire departments.

The course is a certified 5K course, is flat, and takes place on streets in the area. The race will start in front of Sawmill Intermediate School, on New Highway, and will end in the driveway in front of the school. The course does have water stations available and is open to both runners and walkers of all skill levels.

After the race is completed, there will be refreshments available, and raffles will be held. Registration comes with one raffle ticket, and additional tickets will be available for purchase at the event. There will also be awards given to the top three from each gener, top three female and male first responders, and then top three in different age groups.

Registration for this event is currently open and is $30. Day-of registration will begin at 7:30 the morning of the race and costs $35. First responders and military or veterans can register for $20.

Events of this kind often use banner printing in order to mark the beginning and end of the race. These Banners can also serve as roadside advertising. This race is scheduled to begin at 9 am on Saturday, August 10.
