Locals have the chance to experience Irish-American culture in March, with Smithtown playing its part in the month of St. Patrick’s Day.
The Smithtown Historical Society is hosting its annual Irish Heritage Night. Guests will be treated to a traditional meal of corned beef and cabbage, live Irish music, and raffles.
Students from 'An Rince Mor School of Dance' will perform different jigs and Irish step dancing. The establishment teaches traditional hornpipe, beginner reels, and several types of jigs.
Tickets cost $25 for members and $28 for nonmembers. Due to limited seating, advanced reservations are recommended. Proceeds will go to help the society restore and maintain the history of Smithtown.
The event will take place in the Frank Brush Barn, a community facility originally built in 1900 that used to house horses and wagons for funerals.
Each year, the Smithtown Historical Society organizes events such as field trips, dinners, and cultural programs. It is likely the organization has used a postcard printing service to help spread the word about its upcoming activities. A direct mailer could be sent home to inform residents about programs on the agenda.
