Smithtown craft workshop raises money for disaster relief

Smithtown United Methodist Church will host the Custom Coaster Fundraiser for UMCOR Disaster Relief this June to raise money for the organization’s disaster response.

The UMCOR (United Methodist Committee on Relief) is a humanitarian and development organization that provides integral disaster relief support and resources in countries around the world. The organization responds to any natural or human-created disaster that may target vulnerable areas and offers hygiene supplies, food, relief supplies, and other basic necessities that contribute to the rebuilding process.

The Custom Coast Fundraiser will be a fundraiser for the organization’s efforts and will enable families to have a fun, creative experience while also giving back to an important cause. No experience is necessary to attend the class as experienced instructors will be on hand to help with the coaster making. Organizers recommend that attendees bring any pictures that they want to customize their coasters with.

Workshops like this may be advertised on colorful Flyers that can be handed out or hung up in places like community centers or libraries. Organizers interested in such methods may decide to seek out local Print shops that offer flyer printing services.

The custom coaster craft is scheduled for June 7 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. It will be held at Smithtown United Methodist Church, which is located at 230 Middle Country Road.
