Long Island welcomes native son back for filming of sitcom.

Kevin James, a Long Island native, has recently received the go ahead for a new sitcom to be titled ‘Kevin Can Wait’, which will be shot solely in Gold Coast Studios in Bethpage.

A straight-to-series order was issued by CBS in early May for ‘Keven Can Wait’. The main character portrayed by James, formerly one of the leads in ‘King of Queens’, is a newly retired cop. Keven, the title character, whose hopes of relaxing at home with his family, finds those plans dashed by the realities of 24/7 home life, which rival the challenges he faced on the job.

Businesses in surrounding communities such as Smithtown can utilize Gold Coast Studios’ good fortune and use it to help increase their name recognition and build their brand. Ensuring that those who are attracted to Bethpage are made aware of businesses in Smithtown and other nearby communities is something that can be accomplished with the canny use of ad specialties bearing their name.

The series will be Gold Coast Studios’ first network primetime series as well as the first one shot in its entirety on Long Island, and will be a shot in the arm to the local economy. Filmed in front of a live audience, it will be a multi-camera show and is scheduled to start production in August.
