This December, the Smithtown Historical Society will host Heritage Country Christmas, a winter festival celebrating rustic holiday traditions.
Founded in 1955, the Smithtown Historical Society is an organization committed to preserving the town’s historic sites and to educating the public about Long Island’s heritage. The Heritage Country Christmas fair will be an opportunity for Smithtown residents to come together as a community to kick off the holiday season.
Normally an indoor and outdoor event, the fair will be solely outdoors due to pandemic restrictions. Attendees will have the chance to hang family ornaments on the event’s decorated tree and sip cocoa by the fire while roasting s’mores. Families with children will no doubt enjoy the winter hayrides through the society’s picturesque property. It will also feature historic cooking demonstrations and festive caroling throughout the day. Towards the end of the evening, a Christmas tree lightening will commence. To decorate for such events, organizers often seek out Print shops specializing in banner printing.
Heritage Country Christmas is slated for Saturday, December 5 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Tickets can be purchased online at Eventbrite.com for $5. Only 50 people per entry time will be allowed on the property per COVID-19 guidelines, so attendees may be asked to leave after a certain amount of time to accommodate the next group. Masks are also required and will be provided at the gate.
