The 2014 season of St. Catherine’s Board ‘Walk’ Your Way to Wellness program has ended, and the Long Island News recently took a moment to celebrate the events of the summer, as well as look forward to the next event that St. Catherine’s will bring to Smithtown and surrounding communities.
‘Walk’ is a community outreach scheme that Forms part of the Long Island Health Collaborative (LIHC) from the Nassau-Suffolk Hospital Council. The LIHC was born from the work of 24 Long Island hospitals, as well as many community organizations, colleges, and schools, and the two health departments in the county.
The encouragement towards physical activity comes from the commitment St. Catherine’s has made to help with priority areas such as health maintenance. This commitment comes from the group’s 2014-2016 New York State Community Service Plan, which is available to the public through the St. Catherine’s website.
The next health event presented by St. Catherine’s will be its Annual Health Fair, which will take place on September 27, a Saturday, from 9:00 am to noon. Visitors will be able to have their blood pressure checked and cholesterol screened, get free flu vaccinations (supplies may be limited), and receive free information through flyer printing about a variety of health issues. For more information about the health fair, or the other outreach programs presented by St. Catherine’s, contact the hospital directly. Get a Free Quote for Forms
