A Port Washington winter can be cold and snowy, but its residents can warm up with some steaming bowls of soup, and when they are done, they can vote for their favorite.
A variety of eateries from the community will be donating pots of their best soup for the public to sample and enjoy. Bread and crackers will be served alongside the soup, and they can then choose their top pick for the “People’s Choice Award”.
As well as the People's Choice, a special award will be presented to the soup chef who was chosen as their favorite by the event’s younger guests. A panel of judges will select its top pick as well, and the recipient of this will receive the “Judge’s Choice” designation.
While the event is all about enjoying some freshly prepared fare, it also has a higher purpose. The attendees are asked to remember that not all their neighbors are fortunate enough to have food on their table, and are asked to bring along a nonperishable donation for local families experiencing a tough time.
A friendly competition like this can give an eatery a chance to showcase what it has to offer. The participating restaurants can be presented with a certificate prepared by a professional printing services company to thank them for helping to make the occasion even more special for all the guests.
The Port Washington Chamber of Commerce has organized this celebration which will elevate a humble comfort food into something special for February 1. Archangel Michael Greek Orthodox Church will act as the venue for the afternoon.
