Those looking for pets a bit more outside the box may want to sit in on a Port Washington area presentation that will show there is whole world out there full of creatures that can make an interesting animal companion.
Biologist Ed Powers will be welcoming a group of learners at Sands Point Preserve, and they will be investigating the many possibilities when it comes to keeping a bug as a pet. Lots of creepy crawlies will be included in the discussion, which is intended to be both fun and informative.
The attendees at the session will be introduced to arachnids such as spiders and whip scorpions, insects like beetles, and even myriapods like millipedes, finding out which ones can make a good pet and which are best left in the wild. Members of the audience will be invited to get up close and personal with some of these special guests and may even be able to hold one for themselves. Care tip sheets can be provided to anyone who plans on adding one of these creatures to their family, and Stationery printers can easily provide them for this type of function.
Sands Point Preserve will be offering this introduction to some unusual pets on July 19. Tickets start at $15.
