Port Washington workshop gets creative with ink painting

Port Washington aspiring artists should note that The Art Guild will present the New Oriental Brush Painting: Creative Ink Landscapes and Flowers with Gan Yu Workshop for those interested in learning modern ink painting techniques.

The Art Guild of Port Washington is a nonprofit, member-driven organization that promotes the appreciation of and participation in the visual arts. The organization offers children and adult art classes and workshops in a variety of different media, including drawing, oil painting, watercolor, and pastels.

The New Oriental Brush Painting Workshop will be a two-day class that will focus on teaching modern ink painting while also delving into past traditions and the cultural meaning of the art form. Students will learn key features of modern ink painting, such as ink washes, experimenting with lines, and specific shapes and characteristics of painting subject matter. There will be a demonstration first from the instructor, which will be followed by individual practice under instructor supervision.

Workshops are often advertised on community Flyers printed locally at shops offering flyer printing services.

The New Oriental Brush Workshop will take place on July 12 and 13 from 10 pm to 4 pm at the Art Guild, 200 Port Washington Boulevard. Tuition for nonmembers is $310 and for members is $275.
