The Art Guild in the Port Washington area is currently in the middle of its exhibition ‘Travels and Destinations: Near and Far’. The art show and contest is a collection of work showcasing travel in its many Forms.
The types of subject matter at the exhibit are broad, including landscapes, still life, and figurative images of other lands, other lives, and other worlds. Similarly the types of art that the Art Guild has put on display are varied; paintings in oil, acrylic, and watercolor were accepted for submission, but also sculptures, collages, drawings, mixed media, etchings, and even printed graphic designs. Photographs were the only medium that was not accepted.
Submissions were collected by the Art Guild in February and then judged by local artist Paul David Elsen. Only the best works were kept for the exhibition, and the top three were awarded prizes of $300, $200, and $100. The name and a short bio of each artist are included at the exhibition also, for visitors who may be interested in purchasing work.
The exhibition will be on display until April 3 at the Art Guild, located at 200 Port Washington in Manhasset. Visiting is free, but the Art Guild is only open on weekends. Anyone interested in more information on this or future exhibits should visit the website.
