Port Washington to enter the Year of the Tiger

Landmark on Main Street in Port Washington will host the Chinese Lunar New Year Festival in January, providing a day of free entertainment and cultural appreciation.

Landmark on Main Street is a mixed-use development project that includes a community center, a two-acre Town Park, a 425-seat theater, and 59 units of affordable senior housing. It frequently holds community-wide cultural events, such as February’s event highlighting important Lunar New Year traditions.

The festival will begin with arts and crafts related to the Lunar New Year. A tai chi demonstration will also be featured. Special food and refreshments will also be available for purchase. Donations from these sales will go towards supporting Landmark on Main Street community programs.

Beginning at 3:00 pm, the Ba Ban Chinese Music Society of New York will bring in the Year of the Tiger by putting on a free performance telling the story of how the Spring Festival began. The narrative will be told through a blend of music, martial arts, dance, and acrobatics.

Banners are often an important part of the decorating process for festivals like this, so organizers may benefit from visiting local businesses specializing in banner printing.

Landmark on Main Street’s Lunar New Year Festival is scheduled for February 13 from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm. The venue is located at 232 Main Street #1, Port Washington.
