The Port Washington Annual 5-mile Thanksgiving Day Run will take place this Thanksgiving Day as a way to raise money for a charity grant-making nonprofit.
The run will be co-presented by the Town of North Hempstead and The Community Chest of Port Washington, which is the charity nonprofit the event is benefiting. The Community Chest offers grants and other funding to 28 local charities that provide help and resources to the surrounding community.
The run is open to all runners, joggers, and walkers. The number of participants will be capped at 3,500 participants, however, so organizers recommend registering early to guarantee a spot. All race participants will receive a finisher’s medal and a commemorative long-sleeved race shirt. Participants can pick up their race packets two days before the run at Port Washington Adult Activities Center, where people can also drop off donations for Our Lady of Fatima food pantry.
Charity runs offer many sponsorship activities for local businesses to get involved in, such as Print shops offering free or discounted printing services to event organizers in exchange for name recognition on event advertising materials.
The Port Washington Thanksgiving Run will take place on Thursday, November 28, beginning at 8:30 am. The Port Washington Adult Activities Center at 80 Manorhaven Boulevard will be the starting and finishing location.
