Port Washington runners countdown to T-Day

Athletic enthusiasts in Port Washington looking to burn off their Thanksgiving dinner are warming up for the 41st Annual Port Washington Thanksgiving Day Five Mile Run.

The event combines a timed competition with charitable activities aimed at supporting local organizations.

The circuit makes a loop that runs through four Port Washington villages, giving participants a scenic view of the area. Prizes will be awarded to the top three finishers overall ,as well as the top male and female in over 12 different age brackets. Additionally, there will be a wheelchair group with a prize for the top finishing man and woman. Medals will be awarded as soon as the finalist crosses the finish line, and awards will be given out just after the race is over. Free long sleeve T-Shirts bearing the Logo Design of the Thanksgiving Day Run will be given out to all registrants.

All proceeds from the race go to benefit the Port Washington Community Chest, a local charity with a mission of improving the lives of Port Washington residents. In addition to the run, donations are also being collected for the Our Lady of Fatima food pantry. Participants are encouraged to bring one item of nonperishable food on race day.

The Port Washington Thanksgiving Day Five Mile Run will be held on November 24 from 8:30 to 10:30 am starting at Manorhaven Blvd at Edgewood Rd. Cost is $35 per competitor, and is restricted to runners aged nine and up. Anyone interested in more info should visit the website.
