The Port Washington Library in conjunction with Willing Hearts, the Helpful Hands Caregiver Support Program at Parker Jewish Institute, will hold the Support Group for Caregivers of Elderly Relatives next month.
Willing Hearts, Helpful Hands is a volunteer-lead community program that supports family caregivers in the counties of Suffolk, Nassau, and Queens. Knowing the emotional and physical toll that caring for elderly family members, the organization provides a network of well-trained volunteers and other respite care for families to utilize when needed.
The Support Group for Caregivers event will provide a nurturing and safe space for family caregivers to meet and talk with other caregivers in the area. It will be a time to share experiences and advice, such as ideas on how to handle a range of situations that may arise when taking care of an elderly relative. Leading the informal group session will be Dawn Hagen, part of the Parker Jewish Institute and a Licensed Master Social Worker.
Support group events like this will often include pamphlets and Brochures that can be handed out to participants. Print shops offering special brochure printing services can help event organizers prepare these.
The free support group session is scheduled for Tuesday, February 7 from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm. The Port Washington Library is located at 1 Library Drive.
