Next month, Leeds Pond Preserve will host the Owl Prowl Family Workshop for Port Washington families to learn about the native owl population in the area.
Leeds Pond Preserve is a 35-acre preserve along Manhasset Bay where the Science Museum of Long Island is located. The Science Museum is a nonprofit whose mission is to educate children on different science topics through a variety of programs. One of these programs is the Owl Prowl event, which will use an interactive format to teach children about the owls of Long Island.
During the workshop, children learn about what owls eat by dissecting owl pellets and exploring the Preserve to find them out in nature. Along the way, the group will visit homemade owl nests and other possible resting spots of these nocturnal birds. The event will finish with a trip to a designated campsite where there will be campfires and smores for everyone.
The Owl Prowl Family Workshop is scheduled for November 12 from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Leeds Pond Preserve is located at 1526 N. Plandome Road, Manhasset. Tickets are $15 for members of the Science Museum and $20 for nonmembers.
Science workshops often incorporate learning materials such as Brochures, so organizers may decide to team up with brochure printing services in their area to create them.Get a Free Quote for Brochures
