Growing Love Community Garden will hold the Gardening with Children workshop next month for Port Washington parents needing advice on how to introduce their children to gardening.
Growing Love Community Garden is a community garden located in Port Washington within the Manorhaven Preserve, an urban preserve protecting the nature and wildlife representative of Long Island. The garden’s vision is to build a strong community of friends, neighbors, and businesses who work together to sustainably grow, share, and eat their own food. The organization aims to promote healthy gardening practices that go in tandem with environmental conservation and restoration of public lands.
The Gardening with Children class is part of the Sunday Afternoon Gardening Class series. The May class is an adults-only session that will teach parents effective and constructive gardening practices to take home and share with their children. Issues such as sustainability, safety, and durability will be covered, and there will be time devoted to child-friendly garden activities and features.
Events like this often get advertised on Flyers distributed in community centers and libraries. Local Print shops may offer services such as flyer printing for organizers to utilize.
The gardening workshop is scheduled for Sunday, May 21 from 4:30 pm to 5:30 pm. Growing Love Community Garden is located at Manorhaven Boulevard. The class is free to attend.
