The Dim the Lights series will be bringing a family-friendly revue of hits from the Great White Way to Port Washington with its “Broadway Family Favorites” show.
The show is a revue created by Stephen DeAngelis specially for the occasion and will present kid-favorite songs from stage and screen musicals. The scheduled performers include several Broadway veterans, including Major Attaway, the longest-running Genie in the stage adaptation of Aladdin; Sara Jean Ford, who has performed in musicals like The Phantom of the Opera and Cats; and Kissy Simmons, a long-running Nala in the Broadway version of The Lion King. Eugene Gwozdz will serve as the musical director and accompanist for the show.
Broadway Family Favorites is part of the Dim the Lights series designed to bring high-level musical theater to Port Washington as well as the LandmarKids series presenting arts programming for children at the Landmark on Main Street complex. Both series are sponsored by local luminaries and charitable funds. Local theaters like this often uses grassroots methods like poster printing or social media clips to help attract community members. The show will also aim to build anticipation towards the Broadway on Main Street revue in May aimed at a more adult audience.
The Broadway Family Favorites show will take place on the afternoon of March 2 at the Jeanne Rimsky Theater.
