Port Washington educator and author to speak on autism

Next month, Councilwoman Mariann Dalimonte and The Nicolas Center will present an event focused on autism Port Washington.

“A Mother’s Guide Through Autism… Autism, Neurodiversity, Services and Support” will be an author presentation and Q&A session featuring Brigitte Shipman and her new book. Brigitte Shipman is an author, life coach, speaker, educator, and mother to two sons, one of whom is on the autism spectrum. She has also been an educator for over 20 years and holds a master's degree in educational leadership. Her presentation will delve into topics about her experience and how to provide support and services to individuals with autism and their families.

Other speakers on the panel include Amorita M. Snow, MD, a pediatrician with training from the Albany Medical Center University Hospital, who has a son with autism; Dale A. Coffin Ed.D, OTR/L, who has been an occupational therapist since 1993; and Jeremy Scalchunes, BCBA, who is the Associate Executive Director of Programs at The Nicholas Center.

Presentations and panel discussions may include Brochures to give out to attendees, and organizers may visit area Print shops specializing in brochure printing services to print these materials.

The free author presentation is scheduled for Tuesday, October 24 from 7:00pm to 9:00pm. It will be held at the Jeanne Rimsky Theater on 232 Main Street.
