Port Washington cooking class to explore Abruzzo region

The Cooking Lab in Port Washington will hold the Taste of Abruzzo cooking class next month for anyone interested in exploring the cuisine of the Abruzzo region of Italy.

The Cooking Lab was founded by Mathieu Lanfant, a classically trained French chef, and Michelle Capobianco, a private chef and cooking instructor. The school offers both virtual and in-person cooking classes that teach fundamental cooking skills to people of all backgrounds and ages, while paying special attention to ethnic flavors and seasonal dishes.

The Taste of Abruzzo class will be an in-person event focusing on Capobianco’s native region of Abruzzo, Italy. During the class, she will teach students how to cook two authentic Abruzzo-based dishes. The first dish will be Pallotte cac'e ove (egg, cheese, and bread croquettes with tomato sauce), and the second dish will be Ceci allo Zafferano (saffron chickpeas). The instruction space features eight cooking stations that can each accommodate up to two people.

Instructional workshops often get advertised on Posters, which can be hung up in high-traffic areas of the community. Organizers can receive help printing such posters by visiting local businesses specializing in poster printing.

The Taste of Abruzzo cooking class is scheduled for Saturday, January 28 from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm. The Cooking Lab is located at 160 Main Street, Port Washington. Tickets are $100.
